Foretold Event: Jerusalem to be under the control of Gentile nations (but not forever)
When Foretold: 70 CE
When Fulfilled: 70 CE to 1967
Time passed from prophecy to fulfillment: 1,897 Years
Can We Confirm it?: Yes
What would happen to Jerusalem after it was destroyed in 70 CE? Jesus foretold that Jerusalem would be under the control of Gentile nations. However, it is also certain that Jesus foretold that Gentile nations would NOT control Jerusalem forever. Consider Jesus words about Gentiles governing Jerusalem after the city was destroyed in 70 CE.
"Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" (Luke 21:24b).
To begin this study, we must know, "Who are the Gentiles?"
Gentiles are Non-Jewish people or nations. This includes all Romans, Greeks, Orientals, Europeans, Arabs, Indians, Africans, American Indians, and others. In general, the term "Gentile" is related to race, not a religious belief.
Jerusalem is no longer trampled under foot by Gentile people. The last Gentile nation to control Jerusalem was the nation of Jordan, which lost control of the city during the Six-Day War on June 7, 1967. This marked the end of Gentile control foretold by Jesus.
