Einstein's "Key" for Studying Religion
Discovery of the year: 1905
Almost everyone knows of Albert Einstein. Photos of his gentle face, winning smile, and wild hair cause us think of how unique he was. His popularity is mirrored by Time Magazine choosing him as Person of the Century. All are amazed at the depth of Einstein and that he overthrew science by mere thought alone. He changed our understanding of the universe.
Since Einstein was a scientist, how do his ideas relate to studying religion?
The answer is that Einstein's ideas about time (and space) relate directly to religion. The key word is "time-travel." According to Einstein, if you could travel faster than the speed of light, then you could go back in time. (In theory, you could visit your parents when they were children and play games with them). However, Einstein came to the conclusion that no one will ever be able to time travel to the past. Traveling faster than the speed of light appears to be impossible. Consider what would happen to physical objects traveling in a spaceship at the speed of light.
- Time would stop
- The length of the spaceship would contract to zero length (would appear to disappear)
- The mass of the spaceship (how much it weighs) would become infinite (extremely heavy)
Due to these abnormal conditions at the speed of light, Einstein realized that nobody would ever attain the speed of light. It is important to understand that the three ideas above are based on measurements of time, space (length of the spaceship), and mass (how much the spaceship weighs). In Einstein's world, these three items influence one another. Time and space are so connected that they are most often referred to as "time-space" instead of "time and space". All humans are locked INSIDE "time-space" which prevents us from traveling at speeds close to light speed.
Einstein came up with his ideas by using only his mind. He didn't have modern-day tools to test his ideas. It was years later that scientists used tests to verify that Einstein was correct.
Experimental Proof (very simple)
Tests support that physical matter cannot reach light speed: Scientists have used particle accelerators to make an electron attain 0.999 999 999 95% of light speed. As the electron approaches the speed of light, its mass increases, which requires more and more energy to increase its speed. All the energy of the particle accelerator could not make a tiny electron reach the speed of light. A space ship would be even more difficult to accelerate close to light speed.
According to Einstein, nobody will ever attain the speed of light. Creating a spaceship to go faster than light speed is not possible. Even if there are so-called aliens, they will not be able to travel faster than light speed. In support of Einstein's view, other credible scientists agree that time travel is NOT possible. Stephen Hawking, the famous British scientist assures us that the probability of time travel to the past is zero. Because Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity has been proven many times, it is no longer viewed as theory. Relativity can be used to analyze whether or not a religion is from a Super-Being(s) (outside time-space) or from the creative minds of human beings (inside time-space). The principle is very simple as follows:
"It is impossible for humans (or so-called aliens) to travel to the future, write down future events (1 week, 100 years, or a 1000 years from now), then return and give the world your prophecy."
If there is a Super-Being(s) who exists outside the control of time-space, then that Being(s) would not be controlled by time-space limits. The Super-Being(s) would be present in the past, the present, and the distant future. This Super-Being(s) could reveal future events through a so-called prophet. Just as important, the foretold events would have to be consistently accurate (100% of the time) since they come from a Super-Being(s) existing outside time-space. The following graphic shows that information from outside time-space must be consistently accurate about the future. (Super Being(s) exist outside the control of time-space).
We conclude that time-space appears to be the "key" to finding out if there is a Super-Being(s). The entire physical creation is locked inside time-space. No one will ever be able to time travel to the past. In contrast, if there is a Super-Being(s) who exists outside time-space, then the Super-Being(s) is not controlled by time-space and would know all things (including the future) about creatures locked inside time-space.
