Einstein's "Key" for Studying Religion
Special Relativity

Discovery of the year: 1905

Almost everyone knows about Albert Einstein. Photos of his gentle face, winning smile, and wild hair make us think about the uniqueness of his genius! His popularity is mirrored by Time Magazine choosing him as Person of the Century. All are amazed at the depth of Einstein and that he overthrew science by just thinking about it. He changed our understanding of the universe.

Einstein is best known for his scientific ideas called relativity. It was in 1905 that Einstein introduced the Theory of Special Relativity. It changed our understanding of time, space, and motion. Special Relativity is based on two ideas.

  1. The first idea (axiom) is that the laws of physics are the same for everyone as long as they are moving at a constant velocity. For example, if you were doing a science experiment as you traveled in your car at 55 mph, you would NOT be allowed to step on the gas (accelerate or vary your speed) OR hit the brake (decelerate or vary your speed) since changing speed would mess up the experiment. The key is that you must be moving at constant speed. (For your information only, in 1915 Einstein published his Theory of General Relativity, which permits calculations based on changing speed [accelerating]).
  2. The second idea (axiom) from special relativity is that the speed of light is constant for everyone. Whether you measure the speed of light on earth or in a spaceship traveling at high speeds, you will always get the same value. The idea that light speed is constant has evolved some mind-bending views about time, space, and mass. These ideas are linked to the study of religion as will soon be shown.

Since 1905, every experiment done has verified the Theory of Special Relativity to be correct. Due to the successful test results, Special Relativity is no longer viewed as a theory.

By extending relativity ideas to their logical conclusions, some very exotic ideas are evolved. Perhaps the easiest way to explaining relativity is to think about travel in a space ship capable of traveling close to the speed of light. Imagine that your closest friend gets into the spaceship while you stay on earth and watch your friend traveling near the speed of light. What would you observe?

  1. TIME: As the speed of your friend in the spaceship gets close to light speed, their clock would appear to tick slower relative to the clock you are watching on earth. (But your friend would not notice that their clock is ticking slower. Everything would appear to be normal to your friend. Remember the first axiom of Special Relativity. For the person on earth or the person in the space ship, the laws of physics are the same as long as they are moving at a constant velocity. For the person on earth or the person on the spaceship, everything would appear to be normal in their surroundings.).
  2. Can we verify that time is a variable (Or to say that for two clocks moving at different speeds relative to one another, the "time ticks at different rates based on how fast each is moving")?

    Experiments that validate time change (often referred to as "time warp" or "time dilation"): Some particles have decay half-lives. The decay half-life is the time it takes for half the particles to decay into a different particle. However, according to special relativity, when a particle is accelerated toward the speed of light, its so-called internal clock will tick slower than for the person watching the particles on their clock. Therefore, it would be expected that it would take longer for the particles to decay. Science experiments in particle accelerators have verified that the half-life increases to the exact amount predicted by special relativity. {In reality, the decay rate is the same, but the rate at which time ticks is variable. Time ticks slower for the fast moving particle relative to the observer's time piece at its reduced velocity.} This can be calculated by an Einstein equation.   3. MASS: As the speed of your friend in the spaceship got close to light speed, their mass (think of how much you weigh) and the mass of their spaceship (weight of the spaceship) would increase. As the mass increases, more and more energy is required to increase speed. Due to higher energy requirement, the engines on their spaceship would not be able to make the ship reach light speed. Einstein concluded that it is impossible for a space ship to go faster than the speed of light.
  4. Can we verify that mass increases as the spaceship approaches light speed?

    Experiments that validate mass change: Scientists have used particle accelerators to make an electron attain 0.999 999 999 95% of light speed. As the electron approaches the speed of light, its mass increases, which requires more and more energy to increase its speed. All the energy of the particle accelerator could not make a tiny electron reach the speed of light. A space ship would be even more difficult to accelerate to light speed compared to a tiny electron.

  5. DISTANCE: As the speed of your friend got close to light speed, their spaceship would appear to contract (become shorter) in the direction of its motion.
  6. Experiments that validate length contraction: Michelson-Morley experiment in 1887.

Consider what would happen to physical objects traveling in a spaceship at the speed of light.

  1. Time would stop
  2. The length of the spaceship would contract to zero length (would appear to disappear)
  3. The mass of the spaceship (how much it weighs) would become infinite (extremely heavy)

Due to these abnormal conditions at the speed of light, Einstein came to the conclusion that nobody would ever attain the speed of light. However, we can and do travel at speeds less than the speed of light.

Science experiments have proven that Einstein was correct. Nobody will ever attain the speed of light. The idea of creating a spaceship that would go faster than the speed of light and permit time travel to the past is not possible. Even if there are space aliens, they will not be able to travel faster than light speed. The laws of physics about time-space will not allow physical matter to break the speed limit of the universe (light speed). In support of Einstein's view, other credible scientists agree that time travel is NOT possible. Both theory and many experiments have verified that the entire physical creation is under the control of time-space. Time-space limits physical things such as humans.

Beyond Understanding

Because Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity has been proven many times, it is not a theory. Relativity can be used to analyze whether or not a religion is from a Super-Being(s) (outside time-space) or from the creative minds of human beings (inside time-space). The principle is very simple as follows:

"It is impossible for humans (or so-called aliens) to travel to the future, write down future events (1 week, 100 years, or a 1000 years from now), then return and give the world your prophecy."

If there is a Super-Being(s) who exists outside the control of time-space, then that Being(s) would not be controlled by time-space limits. The Super-Being(s) would be present in the past, the present, and the distant future. This Super-Being(s) could reveal future events through a so-called prophet. Just as important, the prophecies would have to be consistently accurate (100% of the time) since they come from a Super-Being(s) existing outside time-space. The following graphic shows that information from outside time-space must be consistently accurate about the future. (Super Being(s) exist outside the control of time-space).

We conclude that time-space appears to be the "key" to finding out if there is a Super-Being(s). The entire physical creation is locked inside time-space. No one will ever be able to time travel to the past. In contrast, if there is a Super-Being(s) who exists outside time-space, then the Super-Being(s) is not controlled by time-space and would know all things (including the future) about creatures locked inside time-space.
